With Roy at the beach, Courtney in PA, and Rene MIA, everyone else was afraid to play a tag round last Thursday.
On Sunday, 5 players showed up but only 3 finished. The other two melted in the 100 degree heat out on the course. Courtney grabbed another win to put him within 13 points of the overall leader. Check out the leaderboard to see the overall standings.

Mike Wilson, Kyle Wilson, and Courtney Biel were all tied at 3 down thru 11 holes. During the next 2 holes, both Kyle and Courtney got birdies while Mike took pars. Mike gained a stroke back on hole 14 but then took 3 birdies in the last 4 holes to take himself out of contention. Kyle took a 1 shot lead on 15 with a birdie after parking his drive withing 7 feet. Courtney tied it back up on hole 16 with a birdie but then his drive on 17 found trouble. Capitalizing on the chance, Kyle threw a great drive and made a long putt to seal the victory. Although Courtney had to wipe back some tears as he handed over the #2 tag that he's been able to hold onto for the past several months, he was happy with his overall round. In an interview with himself afterwards, Courtney stated, "If I had to lose the 2 tag, I'm glad it was part of an exciting battle with a great player!" Above are the results of Sunday's tag round. There were no reports of an official tag round last Thursday which would have taken place at The Fox.
-Overall Point Standings- On Thursday, Chris F. and Courtney B. tied for the win. Chris had to leave so no playoff was done; half a win was awarded to both and the points were split. On Sunday, Rene took his 10th win in as many tries. He remains the overall leader of the points race, with Chris in 2nd and Courtney in 3rd. Check out the Point Standings page for full details.
If you don't already know, The Blockhouse (aka The Grange) is an amazing place to play disc golf. It features 2 championship level courses plus an 18-hole tiki course. There are 2 tournaments coming up that are being held there. The AM weekend is the weekend before Labor Day and the PRO weekend IS Labor Day weekend. Registration just opened for both and will be TD'd by the awesome Chuck "Spike Hyzer" Connelly! You will not be disappointed if you go to this tournament. A weekend here is pure disc golf bliss. More details can be found on the flyers located at the registration links below. Don't wait, although this is the first year they are having separate PRO and AM events, it is a popular tournament and will no doubt fill up.
Online registration at Disc Golf Scene PRO Registration: AM Registration: Not much action on Thursday @ The Fox, but 2 members showed up to play. Faunce won over Mars. Kyle Wilson decided to join the club on a dreary Independence Eve and give #2 tag holder, Courtney Biel, a scare during Sunday's tag round. Mike Wilson and Roy Carter fought over who would earn the highly coveted, "joker" tag (highest numbered tag of the club). Mike's double bogey on hole 16 sealed his fate.
Overall Tag Series points have been updated. This Thursday's tag round will be at MHP. |
