Only 2 showed for last Thursday's round at The Fox. Chris Faunce beat Jesse Mars. Sunday had a small turnout as well. Roy Carter, David Whitcomb, and Todd Ashworth battled in less than favorable weather conditions. David crushed the others to help move him up the leaderboard. Check out the leaderboard on the designated page.

Courtney had to beg and plead for people to join him for Sunday's Tag League round which just happened to be on his birthday. Rene and Roy reluctantly joined in on the party at the last minute. Although it only drizzled on and off during the round, the dreariness infected our game and caused some very poor play from all three of us. Maybe someday we will see the sun and warm weather again. Until then, here are the results and you can see the updated point standings on it's dedicated page.
The 2016 Roctown Classic will be held on June 18th at Westover Park. There will be 2 rounds of 18 holes instead of the full 21. Holes 9, 10, and 12 will not be played to help facilitate better flow on the course. I am signed up and definitely looking forward to this event. Get signed up now by going to the online registration page.
The sun was a welcome sight on Thursday evening's tag league round. Five individuals showed up to play: Rene, Courtney, Roy, Chris, and Stan. We played the ROrange layout where Rene casually dominated the rest of the group. Results are below and overall standings have been updated on the Overall Tag League Point Standings page.
It was so chilly and windy on Sunday, that Roy Carter had to add lead weights to his dogs' jackets. The weather caused difficulties for everyone but Chris handled it the best and shot par to earn him the win. The rest of the results are shown below and the overall point standings can be found on the Tag League Point Standings page.
Thursday Tag League round occurred at The Fox last night. Six showed up to play and almost didn't make it out alive. The brush and weeds are getting thick and the briars and thorns were plenty. This caused slow play and a shortened 9 hole round. Hopefully the Waynesboro Parks and Rec will get things cleaned up soon. Courtney came out on top with his first tag league win of the year by shooting one under course par. Full results from the round yesterday are below and overall point standings can be found by going to this link.
It says to come on out this evening to play a tag round at it in Waynesboro starting at 6pm. Hopefully the rain will hold off for us this time.
Chris Faunce did a great job at finding ways to honor Will Grant throughout the tournament. Will's signature island hole 16 was used, special trophies with funny disc golf sayings (seen in pic above) were handed out to division winners and used for other Will Grant style awards. Plastic flowers could be found throughout the course which was something that Will did often. The weather turned out pretty awesome for Saturday. Although the grass was wet in the morning, it didn't rain at all and the sun came out and dried everything up. We had 41 players come out to the tournament. There were several club members that joined in on the action as well. Ex-club member, Mitch Dickens finished 8th out of 9 in Open. In a division of 13 Advanced AMs, Ned Gearing finished 2nd, Chris Faunce tied for 3rd, Courtney Biel 5th. Out of 9 Advanced Grandmasters, Roy Carter and Cliff Watson tied for 5th while Todd Ashworth finished one shot back in 9th. Richard Haelen played his heart out in the Rec division but all he earned was the most number of throws. Full tournament results can be found on the PDGA Event site. We would like to thank everyone that came out to the tournament yesterday; would also like to thank Chris Faunce that made the tournament happen and also did a ton of course work to get the course ready; would like to thank Wilderness Adventure, who donated some sweet merchandise used as prizes; would like to thank Stan Juchno, David Whitcomb, Ned Gearing, and any others that helped out at the tournament. Below you will find some pictures and gifs from some of tournament action, complements of David Whitcomb: Each time Rene has been present for tag league rounds, he has won, including today. We played the same tournament layout that was used the day before during the "Saturday in Staunton" event. Rene destroyed the course by shooting a 49 (only 2 shots off the best score of anyone Saturday). Courtney played consistent and ended with a 58 which was better than both his rounds in the tournament (60/62). The rest of the scores and results are below and the point series page has been updated as well. In case you are wondering, stories/pics/into/results from Saturday's tournaments will be posted soon.
The ground was wet but with only overcast skies, Biel and Faunce were surprised to be the only ones that showed up to play. Come Saturday, they hope this gives them an advantage, having played the tournament layout (except for one of the temp holes). Despite the scores being tied after 11 holes, Faunce turned up the heat in the remaining holes while Biel fumbled with the basics. When darkness fell and the final hole was finished, Faunce won by nine. The points Chris earned with this win have edged him into the overall points lead over Rene. Check out the standings on the Tag League Point Standings page.
